Keep your friends close and your flashlight closer in this one-vs-many hidden movement horror game.
Latest Updates from Our Project:
The Amusement Park of Terror (Plus Nightfall Details)
– Fri, Oct 28, 2022 at 09:48:28 PM
We are pleased to announce that the Abandoned Amusement Park was the winner of the poll and will become our second map! In full transparency, that was one of our personal favorites so we were happy to see it do so well. Full poll results are below for your perusal:
Now that the map is selected, we want to hear your ideas for potential escape routes and mechanics! We’ve already been brainstorming some ideas of our own, but you all have come up with some awesome ideas throughout the campaign so we want to keep that going. Comment below with your ideas and you might see them come to life in our second map!
In the spirit of providing another deep dive, we wanted to share more details around the Nightfall expansion! There are a number of things included in the expansion, but perhaps the two most notable additions are the large flashlights and the flashlight augment cards.
Aside from simply being bigger (and being gray instead of yellow), the large flashlights perform a different function than the small flashlights. Rather than making spaces bright and revealing the adversary, this flashlight makes spaces dim and is most effectively used when trying to find items/evidence or to help other investigators move more quickly through pitch black spaces.
Flashlight augments introduce a brand new mechanic that modifies how your flashlights work. Each flashlight (small and large) still has its default function, and playing flashlight augments allows you to change your flashlight’s function for a given activation. Some examples are shown below:
Investigators ending their activation in this flashlight gain 1 stamina
It costs the adversary 1 extra movement per space to move through this flashlight
Spend 1 extra charge to also include partially covered spaces that have a line through them
Investigators who roll the sprint die while in this flashlight may re-roll and take the highest of the two rolls
Both the small and the large flashlights cost one charge to use, and you can only use one flashlight per activation. They share the same charge track, so you will still have to choose when to use your flashlight and when to recover some charge.
Aside from those two additions, the Nightfall expansion also includes two new investigators, four new items, (including the dreaded Flashbang, which does pretty much exactly what you’d expect it to do), one new cursed item, and a few tokens.
Note that the Deluxe ($70) pledge includes the base game, the Nightfall expansion, and card sleeves. To clarify, the card sleeves are not part of the Nightfall expansion. If you want just the base game and the Nightfall expansion, you can pledge at the $50 level and will be able to add the Nightfall expansion on in the pledge manager at a slight discount compared to the Deluxe pledge.
If you’re interested in giving the expansion a try, make sure you keep an eye on our Discord and other social media platforms for when we announce future playtests!
For those of you who want an inside look at the game and the process behind our Kickstarter, we wanted to share a video from an awesome series called KickSaga. This series, created by Matthew Rodela from Muse & Mettle Games, is super unique in that it focuses on interviewing first-time creators before and after their Kickstarter. Check out the interview below!
Keep an eye on the Muse & Mettle YouTube channel for our follow-up episode, which should be posted sometime in November or December.
Lastly, we have one final livestream planned (at least during the campaign, that is). This one is extra special since it’s both in-person and it’s on Halloween! No promises, but we may have costumes to really set the mood. Make sure you head over to Twitch at 7 PM CDT on 10/31 to check it out! Fair warning, this will be our first in-person stream so it may be a bit rough :)
That’s it for today’s update, don’t forget to leave your mechanic ideas for the amusement park below!

New Adversary Unlocked, and Adversary Overview!
– Tue, Oct 25, 2022 at 03:42:14 AM
Is that… chanting in Latin? Yes, yes it most definitely is. Something is not right about this place. And those people dressed in deep purple robes look like they are straight out of a medieval textbook. Why are there so many of them?
The followers of the dark increase yet again! And this time, four of them will be played by the adversary player. The Cultists are gathering archaic demonic body parts in an attempt to resurrect a demon long lost to time and centuries of dust. Will you be able to stop them before they summon Mor’gonnod? Once the demon is summoned it will not hesitate to quickly move in and eat every living thing in its path.
Thank you all so much for unlocking our 3rd adversary! We are very excited to have 3, each with very different playstyles. This should keep the investigators on their toes for many game nights to come. Seeing as we just unlocked another adversary, we thought this was the perfect time to provide an adversary overview, where we go over how each adversary plays:
The Butcher
Ever get the feeling you’re being watched?
With The Butcher around, it’s an all too common feeling… His favorite tactic is to lurk in the shadows and stalk his victims before going in for the kill! As a player controlling The Butcher, you’ll need to use all your cunning to get into position, stalk the investigators, and avoid the light at all costs.
The Butcher needs to stalk the investigators for 2 rounds in a row, which increases his stalk track. He will then be able to spend these stalks on his attack and ability cards. In this way, he’ll have to frequently leverage stalking people from a safe distance so as to not be seen, and then get in close enough to begin hunting down an investigator. Once he kills a single investigator The Butcher returns to the shadows, satiating his bloodlust and winning the game.
TheInsatiable Horror
When the ground starts to move under your feet, it’s time to start worrying…
The Insatiable Horror has remained undetected for centuries, hidden in the deep crevasses of the world. But every once in a while an unfortunate soul strays too near to it, never to be seen again.
As The Insatiable Horror, players use their barbed radula to ensnare investigators and drag them to their untimely demise among countless serrated teeth. And while The Insatiable Horror moves slowly on its own, players may use their burrow ability to move quickly across the map, ensuring no investigators ever feel too safe…
TheCultists
Are those voices carried on the wind, or just imagined sounds created by a frightened mind?
The Cultists are here and if they accomplish their goal, no investigator will survive the night! When controlling the Cultists, the adversary player will be racing to collect the sacred corporeal parts of their master and perform a summoning ritual before they can be stopped. With each part collected, their master becomes more corporeal and gains new abilities to use against the investigators.
Once their master is ready to be summoned, the cultists perform one final act of obedience by sacrificing themselves to bring Mor’gonnod from the depths of hell, to Earth. At this point, the demon will always be on the main board, slaughtering each and every investigator. The investigators must work quickly once Mor’gonnod has arrived, as it is extremely deadly and lightning fast.
One Board Family Livestream
Tonight, Matt will be doing a livestream with One Board Family! This will be a live interview and overall game talk to get to know more about one of our developers! The stream begins at 7PM CDT, and can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m43g7SVqF8
Protospiel Online Livestream
We have yet another live playthrough of the game taking place this Wednesday (10/26) at 8 PM CDT. This one is a little different though, since we won’t be the ones playing! Our friends at Protospiel Online have gathered a group of gamers that will be playing the game live, and we’ll be there to answer questions in the chat. We look forward to the game! https://www.twitch.tv/protospielo
Map Poll
The map poll closes soon! Be sure to get your vote in if you haven’t yet. We are very excited to begin the design process of the next map, and are just a few hours away from choosing the winner! https://forms.gle/r4ncMRBesuUmxSDCA
Horror Movies
The time of spooky scary skeletons is nearly upon us. We thought we would share our favorite horror movies with you all. In addition, we want to hear your favorites as well! Share them in the comments of this update!
Ethan: Friday the 13th franchise, The Thing, The Cabin in the Woods
Matt: The Omen, The Shining, The Grudge
Jeremy: More of a sci-fi horror fan, so Life, Alien, Pandorum

Final Map Poll and New Investigator Artwork!
– Fri, Oct 21, 2022 at 06:55:46 PM
The first round of the map poll has finished up! We are very excited by the results of the top 5, which are:
Since there are only 5 maps to pick from this time, we will keep the polls open for 5 days (until 10 PM CDT on 10/25/22). We will then announce the winner of the 2nd map and get to work!
We've included the full results of the previous poll below for those of you who may be curious how the other maps did:
Our investigator artist has also been hard at work! We have the two investigators included in the Nightfall expansion ready to show you! Here’s the fantastic looking Winston Pitts and Kya Prosser.
We are now well on our way to the Cultists unlock! With less than $10,000 to go, we are very excited to see them in the game. I heard they were trying to summon some type of demon…
Thank you everyone for all of the support so far. Getting our game to include 3 adversaries is not something we expected to happen, but we are incredibly glad that it did!
As a reminder, we have another livestream tomorrow (10/21) at 7 PM CDT. This time it will be hosted in Tabletop Playground instead of Tabletop Simulator. We will be streaming on Twitch, and we hope to see you all there! For those who are local, make sure you stop by the Minnetonka Games by James store at noon on Saturday the 22nd!
Lastly, we are currently consolidating all of the amazing card suggestions we've received for the social stretch goals and will be posting that poll in a future update. We also had someone suggest doing an update with more detail on each of the adversaries, so keep your eyes peeled for that!

Over 2,000 Backers, Plus Another Stretch Goal!
– Mon, Oct 17, 2022 at 08:24:34 PM
We just broke the 2,000 backer mark! If you had told any of us we’d have 1,000 (much less 2,000) backers prior to the campaign we probably would’ve told you that you were crazy, but here we are! Thanks once again to everyone who has supported us to this point, we’re thrilled with how the campaign has gone so far and are excited to see how the rest of it unfolds! (see what we did there?)
In addition to breaking 2,000 backers, we’ve surpassed $125,000 so with that comes another stretch goal! At long last, the adversary player can look at some nice art on their side of the darkness. Instead of a blank screen on their side, they will now have full art showcasing the different adversaries along with some rules and references. Oh, and did we mention that it's being upgraded from cardstock to cardboard? Color us impressed!
We’re incredibly excited that the next stretch goal in line is another adversary! We’re only $20,000 away from having another adversary included in the base game, which will bring us up to three total adversaries. Make sure you help spread the word and get us to that ever-important $145,000 mark!
We continue moving through our social stretch goals, so don’t forget to post your item, wound, mitigation, and storm card ideas in the comments! We’ve gotten a number of awesome suggestions so far, and we’ll continue taking suggestions for a few more days before putting out a poll to vote for the actual cards we’ll incorporate as part of the social stretch goals.
For those of you who are local to the Minneapolis area, make sure you stop by the Minnetonka Games by James store this coming Saturday (10/22) at noon since we’ll be hosting in-person demos of the game with our factory prototypes.
For everyone else, we have another livestream on Friday (10/21) at 7 PM CDT. We’ll be showcasing our Tabletop Playground implementation for the first time, so it should be quite interesting!
Lastly, remember that our map poll is open through tomorrow night (we’ll say 10 PM Central Daylight Time for our overseas friends), so make sure you head on over and vote if you haven’t already! We’ll tally the votes the next day and post an update with the final vote shortly thereafter. There are a pretty clear set of finalists right now, and they're all awesome ideas!
Once again, we want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has made this possible. Don’t forget to leave your new card ideas in the comments, and we’ll talk soon!

New Map Unlocked - Vote For Your Favorite Now!
– Tue, Oct 11, 2022 at 11:24:50 PM
You crazy investigators and adversaries did it - we have hit $100,000 and unlocked a new map! The board will now be double-sided so that you can choose a different scenario to play, complete with new objectives.
Thanks to everyone who posted ideas for the map in the comments! We saw tons of great ideas in there, so now it’s time to let your voice be heard. We’ve created a poll with the potential options below, so please go in and pick your favorites!https://forms.gle/LjYQYm5cuNez9iwz7
Note that we had almost 40 ideas, so we’ll be splitting voting into two phases. We will leave the first phase open for 7 days to select the finalists and then create one final poll for people to vote on the winner. Be on the lookout for another poll next week!
Speaking of polls, we had over 60 people vote in our player board direction poll. The overwhelming majority voted that the tracks should both move in the same direction, but the direction in which they should move was much more divisive:
Right-to-lefters rejoice, you narrowly beat out the left-to-right crowd! The people have spoken, so we will be adjusting the direction of the player board tracks accordingly.
You’ll notice that a new stretch goal has been revealed, and it’s another new adversary! The Cult of Hunlow has been in development for a while now and plays quite differently than The Butcher or The Insatiable Horror. We won’t spoil too much of the fun just yet, but keep an eye on our funding progress since we’ll be providing more details once we hit that target!
We are blowing through our social stretch goals, which has been amazing to see! Thanks to everyone that has liked/followed us on our various social media platforms, we have already unlocked one social goal and are super close on a few others. Keep an eye out for new targets to be added as we unlock existing goals! These new goals will introduce additional backer-selected cards into the game.
More cards also means we want more of your ideas! Please comment below with your ideas for new items, wounds, mitigations, and event cards. We’ll take these responses and set up a poll where you can vote for your favorites in a future update, and those cards will become the social stretch goal unlocks and be added to the game.
Note that because the cards will add a mechanical component to the game, we may need to do some selection / modification before including them to ensure they don’t break or repeat any other mechanics. In the end, we need to make sure they still jive with everything else that’s in the game and are appropriately balanced!
Our live playthrough has now been uploaded to YouTube and added to our main Kickstarter page, so feel free to check it out if you want to see how the developers play! As a reminder, our next playthrough will be on Friday 10/21 at 7 PM Central Daylight Time (UTC -5).
For those of you who are local to the Minneapolis area, we have an in-person playtesting opportunity for you! We’ll be at the Minnetonka Games by James store (inside the Ridgedale Center) on Saturday, 10/22 at noon, so feel free to stop on in to play a game or just say hi!
Thanks again for all the support so far - we’re officially one week into the campaign now and only have a couple weeks left to go, so let’s make sure we finish strong! What ideas do you have for new cards?
This is Matt, Jeremy and Ethan, gathering up supplies…
